Light for Children

Over the years we have also been able to help a number of local families who either have very poor social circumstances or children with particular health problems. These are some of the families we have been working with.

Mihaela and Mihai

We first met Mihaela as a 17yr old orphan who was pregnant and desperate. The authorities planned to take her baby away from her and put him into an orphanage in another town. With our intervention and much persuasion, they allowed her to keep her son Mihai with our support. We helped Mihaela by renting a small house for her, providing fuel, food, clothing etc but most importantly by supporting her emotionally and teaching her how to become the wonderful parent that she is today. The pictures above are of Mihai's first birthday. Mihai recently celebrated his 3rd birthday, (pictures below) has started nursery and Mihaela has found a small part time job so she can start to support herself with our continued help.

In Summer 2008 Wendy and Dave Barnsley visited Helen and Costel.

During their visit they helped Mihaela and Mihai in their home by replacing the glass in the front door and renewing the net curtains. It gave the house a fresh look.

The Popas seen above now have a laptop with internet - there is a govenment scheme for poor families who have children in higher education to be given a laptop - so we were able to show them the LFC website. They were overjoyed to see themselves and as you can see from the attached photos had great fun pointing each other out on screen.
