CRES parishes

(CRES stands for Chebsey, Ranton, Ellenhall and Seighford parishes.)

How did CRES become involved? Lynn Walker writes:

In 2005, we realised that almost all our fund raising was directed at people associated with St John's and we were continually going back to those same people for money.

We started to pray that God would find ways that other people would hear about Light for Children and catch the vision.

At a Trinity Church coffee morning I met up with Margaret Ainsworth-Hickman, whom I had known for several years as the secretary at Walton Hall Special School. She was very interested in the work we were doing in Romania and took the information back to her Sunday School class at All Saint's Church in Chebsey (one of the group of CRES Churches where Rev Andrew Hetherington is vicar).

That year the children in the Sunday school class did a sponsored swim on the afternoon of Christmas Eve and raised several hundred pounds. The children also started to befriend 1 of our children. Over the past 4 years Margaret and other members of All Saints Church have organised a number of fund raisers including an Easter Bunny Drive and the Calendar Girls theatre trip and we have been to the church to speak to the congregation 2 or 3 times.

Through
Rev Andrew Hetherington, the Seighford Church then became involved and as a church have really caught the vision and are contributing greatly financially through a variety of fund raising events, particularly to the cost of running the apartment. But also the whole village of Seighford has become involved, so things like the village panto has also led to massive financial support. There are also many boxes of toiletries and other aid going out to Helen from this area.

Walton Hall Special School then became involved due to a combination of Luminita being a pupil there and also through Seighford connections. The school has also done lots of fund raising for us and again this spreads the word about our charity.

So 2 real answers to prayers:

1. people would know about and support LfC
2. specific financial support for the apartment
